The UK is home to some of the world's best universities, colleges and schools. The UK government offers Student Visas to welcome foreign students who want to study in the UK.

The Tier 4 Student Visa replaces the old UK Student Visa.

If you have been offered a full-time place at a UK educational institution, you may be eligible to enter the UK on a Student Visa.

Requirements

* You must have a secured place at a UK-based institution for full-time study. Full-time means a minimum of 15 hours of classroom study per week.
* You must be able to support yourself without access to public funds, as well as pay for the course and all accommodation and maintenance.
* It is essential that applicants state that they intend to return to their home country after the course is completed.

Visa Conditions
* Successful applicants are normally granted a 1 year visa initially, depending on the length of the course.
* Students may work for 20 hours per week in term time, and 40 hours per week during the holidays.
* Partners and dependents are usually free to work as they choose, as long as the main applicant is going to be studying for longer than 1 year.

Individuals wishing to study for 6 months or less may qualify for a student visitor visa, however visa nationals will still require entry clearance in this category. This type of visa does not allow for any form of employment.

New UK Visa Rules Good for Intelligent Students

Recently some of the changes in the rules of the students category by the UK Home Office is really helping alot students from around the world and mostly from the region of Asia as from their many of the students want to have good education and also like to enjoy and see the western world their culture and also to see how advance they are in their life and all the daly routine of their life style. No doubt this will bring many of the nations closer as compare to before as when they will share the style, passion, freedom, open ways, no difference in the gender as whatever you like to do u do it here in the western cities and countires from the home tasks as stitching, study, helath care, nurse, driving also in the taxi or cab profession, fighting, beauty, marketing, construction like painitng, plumbing, bricklayer or security like body gaurd, corporate security, IT like hardware or networking, CISCO you name it and you will find here involving and doing the same things as doesn't matter if the person is doing the task is SHE or HE. Really if any country, society, crowd or a group if really sincerey wish to grow faster then the ways is educate the girls. This is the difference here we will definitely note no doubt the same things has started happening in the developing countreis also but still its so slow just except a few part of the big cities we have still the same attitude towards the Gender. These changes in the rules to ocme in the UK for study will also help in the quality of education and the different level of experience as here students will share alot of ideas from the different students from the different of the world. They come to about know the british culture and also if someone is doing study in the English then he has the chance to see the Shakespeare play as organised by the different groups some time in or around London and stundents can have that expeirence at that time while studying here. Its really amazing as i also reminded when i WAS reading and listening in the class about the shakespeare and about life if not forgetting about his young life, views about love i will really give time to study about the great Shakespeare.

13,500 fewer Colleges for Visas

Its really a stunning news as the figure shows how many Educational Institutes or Colleges (public and private) shrunk more than thirteen thousand so is it the bogus colleges.....its postive news as the result will be good for the students as for now students will be getting admissions in the right institues not the bogus one and by this they will not suffer any kind of career/financial point of view later as when they come to know about the college they are studying is not registered with the Governments body, so now students must check this before getting the admission as the college must be registered with the UK Border Agency also keep in notice that as till date ONLYthe new list, vetted by the UK Border Agency, now only has 1,500 institutions registered. read the latest news below:.....as.....

.....A quarter of those who applied have been rejected - and the registered number has plunged by 90%.....

The approved list of colleges for sponsoring UK student visas has shrunk by more than 13,000, following a crackdown against bogus colleges.
There had been about 15,000 public and private educational institutions on the government's register.

But the new list, vetted by the UK Border Agency, now only has 1,500 institutions registered.

The stricter rules for the new register are intended to stop "dodgy colleges", says the UK Border Agency.

But the sharp fall in numbers will raise questions as to whether the previous official list included bogus institutions.

Immigration rules
Following concern that bogus colleges were being operated as a way of fraudulently providing student visas, there has been a substantial tightening of regulations.

"We have made it clear that we will not tolerate either the fraudulent applicants trying to abuse Britain's immigration rules, or the dodgy colleges that facilitate them," says a statement from the Home Office.

The register of colleges, held by a series of government departments, has been used as an approved list for student visa applications.

Colleges which want to recruit students from overseas now face a much tougher inspection and accreditation process - and overseas students face greater controls, including the need for a biometric identity card.

The list of registered colleges, previously held by the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills, is now run by the UK Border Agency - and colleges have had to re-apply to be on the new approved list.

A quarter of those who applied have been rejected - and the registered number has plunged by 90%.

Gina Hobson of the British Accreditation Council says the tighter rules will have a "dramatic impact on the operations of colleges which have been set up without educational intentions".

There are also legitimate reasons why the new list would be smaller.

The previous register was a wider-ranging list of education and training providers, including local authority centres, independent schools, prisons and employment training companies, which would not need to apply to the new UK Border Agency register.

"Not every institution that was on the old Dius register needs to be on the new Tier 4 list [the stricter register] - some institutions do not teach students from outside Europe and so do not need to register with Tier 4. Some may have not yet registered."
